2008. Now that was a year. My guess is that we’ll hear that for many years to come. I don’t know about you but I’m ready for the change we’ve been hearing about.
It was a notable year, 2008, in so many ways. Some positive – like America electing its first African-American president, and lots of negative – like big banks getting plenty money from you and me then saying ‘go f*&k yourselves’, corporate America shedding jobs in record numbers, and government beginning a trend of nationalizing that would make any Federalist proud.
Some things that should have changed in 2008 didn’t. There’s still no cure for a long list of diseases. But thank goodness big pharma is spending money on drugs (and advertising) to help your erection, or to make your lashes longer, darker and thicker. Oh well, 2009 is another year.
REAFFINITY had a tough 2008 as well. I’ve always had a knack for getting into industries that are just about to have their bottom drop out – from pharma to telecom to real estate. So it shouldn’t be surprising that our move into support for small business would come at a time when most businesses consider their tech needs with a critical eye. And just like everyone else, we had a miserable year.
However, our downtime wasn’t wasted. We’ve been hard at work building a product that will allow small business to reach a wider audience with little effort on their part. I am at once excited yet cautious to see how it’ll turn out.
We’ve been promised change – here’s to hoping that 2009 brings change for the better for you and me.
