I took a few hours out of my day to attend the VidExpo that was held in Denver today. Lots of drool-worthy equipment but what I really went for was the free training.
Most people know I that prefer to use a Mac when not fixing Windows machines. Not sure why but tech support seems to be easier with Apple products. It could be my prejudice showing after using Windows for lo these many years. Whatever, it’s just more fun to get to be creative every once in a while.
So I sat in a couple of classes for Apple’s Final Cut Studio products and was amazed (again) on how simple it is to bring a creative vision to life. With drag and drop simplicity in audio and video, a small business can create a compelling piece to show the world who they are much better than a flat and static web site or ad in the yellow pages.
I know you’re saying – that’s been true forever, but the thing is that we’re moving even farther from needing dedicated and expensive video editing equipment and the people that have the expertise to run it. With a couple of clicks here, a few drags there, and a creative vision you’re done. Well, the creative vision is the hard part but still if it helps your small business and you have some fun along the way then why not give it a try.
But the cost you say. Really? How much do you spend on that yellow pages ad? What’s the reach? If your business lends itself to branching out farther than your local area then experimenting with video is probably worth your time. It may even spark creativity in other areas of your business (please not in financials though. kthx.)
There are probably plenty of marketing ideas that you can come up with of where to use video to promote your business. If not, be sure to check back here soon for marketing tips that surely will involve video.
